William Kennedy has written eight novels in what he calls the “Albany Cycle,” all set in his picking city of Albany, New York.

Novelist and scholar Thomas Flanagan short this overview of Kennedy’s rotation in The New York Argument of Books in 2002: “William Kennedy’s cycle … began cut off Legsin 1975.

This was followed by Billy Phelan’s Greatest Play in 1978 and Ironweed currency 1983. Kennedy’s literary successes undo the door to the environment of movie-making.
